Officials have announced the sentencing of a 34-year-old Ferndale man to 15 years and eight months in federal prison for his involvement in the sex trafficking of children within Metro Detroit motels. The man, Toriano Davis, had pleaded guilty to two counts of sex trafficking a minor back in February 2023.
The investigation into Davis began in late 2020 when authorities were searching for two minor females who had run away from the Lansing area. A relative of one of the minors expressed concern that they might have fallen victim to trafficking in the Metro Detroit region.
In December 2020, authorities successfully located the two minors in a motel room in Southfield, while Davis was found at another motel in Roseville.
This case sheds light on the crucial work of law enforcement in combating human trafficking and protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation. The sentencing serves as a strong message that such heinous crimes will be met with severe consequences.
